WAP and MMS

WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) is a technology allows you to view information from the internet on your mobile telephone. WAP service is available on those mobile telephone models that support GPRS technology.

WAP sites are similar to internet pages. As a rule, they come in the form of references, which can give you important information on any topic. For this, you will not need any device but your mobile phone.

WAP sites are:

• Useful information on sports, weather and exchange rates
• Schedules of nearby cinema theaters
• Communication with interesting people
• Cute postcards, melodies and games for your telephone
• Access to e-mail

MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) is a service that allows you to transfer pictures, photos, melodies and video from one subscriber to another by means of the mobile network.

WAP Settings in Your Telephoneе

WAP and MMS serviced should be set up separately.

You can set up your phone to use WAP service in the following ways: 

1. Automatic settings through SMS:

   To receive WAP settings you need to send an SMS with the word wap to the number 321; you will get an SMS with the settings needed to use the service. You should select “yes” to save the settings on your telephone.

2. Automatic settings through the website:

   To set up the service you should go to automatic settings, select the brand and model of your mobile telephone. Then you need to indicate the type of settings (wap), enter your MegaCom telephone number to the special space and press the button “send.” After that you will receive an SMS with the parameters and settings that you should save on your telephone.

3. * All phone models request a PIN code for saving. In this case you should enter the PIN code 1111 (IT IS NOT a PIN of your SIM card!)

4. Manual setting

   Parameters for WAP under manual setting:

   • Profile name: Wap-mega
   • Homepage: wap.megacom.kg
   • APN (name of access point) - wap
   • Proxy address: 10.230.3.18
   • Port: 8080 or 9201 (depending on phone model)

   Sometimes it is required to indicate a three-digit IP: 010.230.003.018

   Once the parameters have been entered, it is recommended that you restart the telephone.

MMS Settings in Your Telephone

You can set up your phone to use MMS service the following ways: 

1. Automatic setting through SMS:

   To receive MMS settings you need to send an SMS with the word mms to the number 321; you will get an SMS with the settings needed to use the service. You should select «yes» to save the settings on your telephone.

2. Automatic setting through the website:

   Select the brand and model of your mobile telephone. Then you need to indicate the type of settings (mms), enter your MegaCom telephone number to the special space and press the button «send». After that you will receive an SMS with the parameters and settings that you should save on your telephone.
