SIM Card and Secret Codes

What is a SIM Card?

A SIM card is an identification module, which provides registration in mobile networks and has all the necessary technical information needed to enable your phone to work in the network. A SIM card is issued to every new network subscriber. Your electronic phone book with telephone numbers and your text messages may be stored in the memory of your SIM card. With the help of your SIM card, you can use the SIM menu and obtain additional information. Before inserting a SIM card, read the user’s manual for your phone, then separate the SIM card from its case (plastic base) and insert it into your mobile phone according to the instructions. You can use your SIM card with any GSM standard phone keeping your number unchanged.

Secret Codes – PIN and PUK

PIN (Personal Identification Number), that you will receive together with your SIM card, protects your telephone (and, therefore, your funds) from unauthorized use (for instance, when you lose your phone, or when it is stolen), but only if the PIN code request is activated. Four secret codes (four-digit PIN 1 and PIN 2, eight-digit PUK 1 and PUK 2) are on the plastic case of your SIM card.

Entering, Changing and Disconnecting the PIN Code

Code PIN 1 will automatically be requested from you right after installing the SIM card and turning on the phone. You will see “Enter PIN code” on the screen. It is described in the instructions for your telephone how to change or disconnect the PIN code.

Attention! If you lose your phone without it requiring the PIN code to turn on, other people may get access to your SIM card and use MegaCom services at your expense.

How to Unlock a SIM Card

Be careful when you enter the PIN code. If you enter the wrong code three times in a row, the SIM card will become blocked. In this case, the card may be unlocked only with the help of the PUK code (8 digits). The procedure is described in the instructions for your telephone. To unlock, you can also use universal combination for all telephones:

**05*PUK*PIN*PIN#

If you forget your PIN code, or want to change it, enter:

**05*PUK*new PIN*new PIN#

Be careful when you enter the PUK code: if you enter it wrong 10 times in a row, the SIM card will be blocked completely and you will need to buy a new SIM card from a MegaCom Service Center (SC)

PIN 2: Special TelephoneFunctions

If your telephone supports special functions, your PIN 2 will protect them from turning off/changing. This code can also be changed, in the same way as the main PIN 1. If you entered wrong the PIN 2 three times, you can lock access to the special functions without the help of the PUK 2 code.

What to Do if You Forgot or Lost Your PIN and PUK

If you lose your PIN and PUK codes, do not try to enter codes at random to avoid complete blocking of the SIM card. To restore codes, refer to a MegaCom Service Center. You will need to provide your ID to confirm your identity.

If you’ve lost Your mobile phone…

For those subscribers who have lost their phones and SIM card, but still would like to keep the number and safeguard themselves from possible calls from their number, the additional service «Pause» is provided.

To connect «Pause» you need to call our information center, or leave a written application at a service center. The service is connected for an unlimited period of time. During this period you may be confident that your number is kept and that you can restore it at a service center at any time. The cost of this service is 114 som per month. Payment is charged on a daily basis, i.e. every day client pays 3.80 som. This is reliable and convenient.

Restoration of a lost number is provided to contract subscribers. If you are an anonymous subscriber, but this service is important to you, then you can sign an agreement with us for your current plan and number, and this service will be available to you.
