Subscriber Security

In this section MegaCom will inform you about possible incidents of unauthorized use of your phone number and/or personal account.

Don’t Fall for Scams!

We would like to warn you about possible contacts from unknown persons who send short messages to your mobile phone informing you that you have won a prize that from a popular radio station or from MegaCom directly, often while asking you to buy or activate an advance payment card for another phone number at the same time. As a rule these messages are from other MegaCom numbers.

In such cases, we request that you not activate any kind of advance payment card. To obtain reliable information, you should immediately request information through the *500 service number or through any company service center.

Do not activate advance payment cards for any numbers named by people you don’t know, and do not transmit PIN codes for payment cards that you have bought to unknown persons.

Be careful and do not let swindlers steal from you. MegaCom will not be responsible for compensation for financial damage if you voluntarily transfer the PIN code of an advance payment card to someone you don’t know.

Dear MegaCom Network Subscribers!

In order to avoid unauthorized use of your phone number or funds available on your account, we recommend that you remove your SIM card from your telephone when you submit it for maintenance or repair. Since there is a possibility to clone SIM cards (unauthorized persons can duplicate your SIM card profile and then make telephone calls from your phone number and spend funds from your personal account), we recommend that you not allow the temporary use or storage of your SIM card by unauthorized persons either with or without your telephone.

When You Lose Your Telephone!

When you lose your mobile telephone you should inform either the information service (*500 or 0555 50 00 00) or a MegaCom service center as soon as possible. Even if your phone was not turned off and the PIN code was not disconnected, we will block your number to make sure that it cannot be used by anyone not authorized to do so. In this case, your number will be placed in “pause” status (see Administrative Services). If your number is blocked quickly, you will be able to save your balance from being used illicitly. To be able to use this number again you will need to buy a new SIM card – if you are a contract subscriber, you will be able to resume use of your old phone number after purchasing a new SIM card.

It is important to note that our blocking service is not a free service, and when you use this service for a long period of time your balance may fall below the disconnect threshold. That is why it is desirable for you to restore your SIM card as soon as possible after you have lost your phone in order to save as much money from your balance as possible. It also should be noted that when you reach the disconnect threshold, and you deposit money in your account, blocking automatically gets cancelled. So, in order to avoid unauthorized use of your number it is desirable to restore your lost SIM card as soon as possible.
